Examples of the kind of questions I have answered…

"My grandfather was a prisoner of war in Luft I, Barth. Can you tell me what Group and Squadron he was in? All I have is his name and date of birth."

"We found a dog tag in the forest near Bastogne, Belgium. Can you tell us who the owner is? Is he still living?"

"My father was a WWII troop carrier pilot. His plane crashed in Belgium, but no body was ever recovered. Can you put me in touch with any survivors of that crash or tell me anything about the crash investigation?"

"I have a photo of my uncle in his Army uniform. Can you tell me what the insignia mean?"

"My uncle’s discharge papers show he earned four bronze stars during WWII. Can you tell me what they were for?"

TRUE STORY- A friend of a WWII veteran wrote to me looking for information on the gravesite of the soldier’s best friend. The friend was a paratrooper who had been killed in action in France. As a result of my research, I discovered the best friend had NOT died after all, and was currently living in Arkansas! And he thought the other guy had been killed in action too! Within 3 days of receiving that question, the two veterans were talking on the phone after sixty years. A reunion is planned…. Dave--

Unbelievable! That's my dog tag allright--I don't remember how I lost it but that sure as heck is me! We must have been on a training maneuver in that part of England. I can't wait to get it back and be sure to thank the guy who found it for me!

Dave--

Just wanted to let you know that Vladimir Davikowicz changed his name to Joe Davis after the war. He is alive and well and wants to talk to Bill’s daughter. Please do your thing and get them together!

Dave,

The information about my fellow crewmembers on 44-8161 that you have given to my daughter has filled a great void in my life. I first talked with Ed, then Ted and then Paul’s widow (who was previously married to one of the other crew members of Ted's original crew.)

Thank you ever so much for your effort. You are indeed appreciated!

What a Christmas present!!

Mr. Berry --

Oh my Lord! You have floored me and absolutely shocked me with this response.
I never expected to receive such comprehensive information nor did I expect to receive it so quickly. Your assistance is appreciated, believe me!
Truthfully, I have no idea how you found the information you did. I get the feeling you have been an angel to others if you found that information so quick.
If you have any recommendations on where to go from here, I am all ears! Anything else would be great.

Thank you again and may God bless you!

Warmest,
Cristina,
Granddaughter

Dear Dave,
I have to THANK YOU SO MUCH as my dad called Ed and talked to him for 1/2 hr. on the phone and it was the right person he flew with and was shot down with on that plane. They had a great conversation and some great tales to go over on the past.

I WANT YOU TO KNOW Your searching has brought my dad much happiness!!!!!!!!!! He said Ed is in good health and remembers much about their WW2 stories. It was sad to learn Corporal Paul, who helped my dad by throwing the knife up to my dad so he could cut himself out of the tree he was caught in, died 2 months ago and lived very close to us. We have been looking for them for about a year now. We would still like to contact the family if we could as he did help our dad and probably saved his life.
Thank you again so much for all your help!!!!
God Bless you
Karen

Dave--

You know more about what I was doing in WW2 than I do---AND I WAS DOING IT!
